In 1998 (a college freshmen back then), I was writting simple batch file scripts
in DOS. I found interest in studying true "executable programs" and 4 months later,
I had my first "Hello World" program written in C. At this time, I have taken my
pre-thesis for my diploma course where in I already finished my first full graphical
based, mouse driven, multi-threaded scientific calculator application in DOS.
At the time I graduated from a 2 year diploma course in Computer Systems Design
and Programming, I decided to take a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and pursue
an indepth study of the Computer World. At the time I got my first 80386BX HP computer
(which was an overun from my older brother), I had no idea in repairing it everytime
it malfunctioned. I, therefore, have to aspire a deeper understanding of computers
focusing not only on the software but also on the hardware side such as assembling
and reconditioning computers. Before I became a freelance computer technician, I
have already dismantled three (3) of my previous computers.
Studying for another 4 years in computer sucks! I have to start finding ways of
earning money and not just stimulating my brains. I got my first job in a small
computer shop as a computer technician and a lone network and system's administrator
while studying at the same time. Back then, I started to gain interest in computer
networking, (since I had no choice for this was my job) and configuring them to
ensure that the different softwares (i.e games, internet based softwares) are used
to their fullest capabilities. With the help of a friend, who was my former college
professor, I was able to make it into the area of network and system's administration.
After graduating from college, I was able to achieve my vision of not just being
a software engineer but a computer technician and a system's administrator as well..
